When employees cannot access information to do their jobs effectively…they can become discouraged, and ultimately, disconnected from productivity. When I landed on the GO Properties team, the group had wonderful information portals, which were built using the company’s internal software solution. The problem was that the information was EVERYWHERE. This employee portal helped our internal team “see” each other and the processes which connected us. In addition, the portal was an informational brochure for external audiences as well.

As a web administrator, I used Google Analytics to understand the digital behavior of visitors to this site. It helped me know which content was being accessed, and which was never downloaded. As a content developer, I found that the more dynamic content received the most hits. I used social media to help push information and links to targeted audiences while running campaigns. I leveraged the insights behind the clicks to maintain a fresh and frequently visited employee portal.

Due to a ZERO budget, this was built by yours truly, using a combination of HTML, CSS, and Java. My graphic design skills came in handy as I created this art from royalty-free photos taken at our sites, and scraped off of LinkedIn/Twitter channels. Eventually, the team rolled off the cash and bought us a CMS (WordPress). It was AMAZING to copy and paste the content from this site (as a prototype), and quickly stand up the new site. Who says you need an extreme budget to have your content LOOK like a million dollars?
